No colors and no extra features. Just my process for a basic wordmark with real text messages to show you exactly how I took in the assignment.
Fresca needed an all purpose logo that would be used to represent their music production business. It should work printed on a shirt or a water bottle. The client already had colors in mind and just wanted me to simply make the mark in black and white. This is how it went. (Some information is redacted for relevance and privacy)

I got started with my first 5 designs with some sketches; some on paper and some in an empty document. I also started making some extra sylized vectors for the client to dress up the wordmark how he would see fit. Here is what I eventually came up with:
